Local Authority Lighting Committee

Our Local Authority Lighting Committee is chaired by Rob Baines. Rob has over 20 years’ experience in the street lighting industry and is currently the Electrical Assets Commissioner for Derbyshire County Council.

The aim and objective of the Local Authority Lighting Committee is to:

  • Provide a voice for local authority members at the ILP Technical Committee and other industry working groups, including BS5489 and BSEN13201.
  • Promote collaboration between authorities across the UK and Ireland
  • Support existing and established working groups such as LoLEG (London Lighting Engineers Group), MHA+ (Midlands Highway Alliance), NLAG (Northern Lighting Engineers) and ADEPT
  • Reach out to members who are not supported by larger regional working groups such as those listed to ensure those voices are not lost.
  • Research and define industry best practices for new and emerging methodologies and technologies. Supporting members with a design and/or maintenance responsibility.
  • Liaison with other organisations and government bodies.
  • Feedback progress and concerns to the ILP Council.
