All lighting professionals must demonstrate continuing professionalism and competence. Our programme of courses, seminars and events plays a key role in helping lighting professionals maintain and update their existing skills, acquire new skills and progress their career.

The ILP offers many training courses and options for you to become competent, update your learning and gain CPD.  

 

Our course offering includes the indusrty recognised Exterior Lighting Diploma, as well as informative short courses.

If you are new to the lighting industry or would like a refresher course, the fundamental series is exactly what you need.

The courses offered enable lighting professionals to maximise their potential and build their knowledge base to make them stand out from the crowd. Our courses are open to both members and non-members.

Our short courses are available as flexible learning online courses with the convenience of learning around your workload from your workplace. 

Some of our courses are scheduled for in person learning at our own facilities in Rugby, you can visit our Events page to see and book these. 

We also offer bespoke and in-house training if you have a number of staff to be trained at your own location.  Please contact us to enquire.

FAQs

What software is used in your course?
The training does not use any software. It is intended to focus the mind of the designer on identifying the user groups, the site-specific situations and using this to make decisions before any software is used.
 
I have only been working in lighting for a short time. Will these courses be too advanced for me?
No, this course has been designed for those with some experience and those new to the industry
 
Is there any prior reading or learning necessary?
Course materials, copies of presentation slides will be available once you have enrolled. However, it would be better to have some knowledge of BS5489-1 prior to starting the training.
 
If there is something I don’t understand, will there be help available?
