Allan will advise on the background as to why this has come about.  He will then look to the specific DMRB details relating to road lighting design and the approach required under the MCHW regarding specifying and detailing a scheme for tender.

12.20pm - Lunch & Networking

1.20pm - Ian Harker - Stainton Lighting Design Services - Asbestos Awareness in Street Lighting

  • The purpose of asbestos awareness in street lighting is to ensure that those responsible for the implementation and design of street lighting works understand the potential risks of asbestos exposure during maintenance, renewal, and repair work to street lighting infrastructure and to provide them with the knowledge to avoid disturbing asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and prevent accidental exposure.

2.00pm - Guus Ketelings - Let's Light - Stop TALKING about AI - start USING it!

  • The lighting industry has spent the last few years discussing artificial intelligence in largely abstract terms. While headlines focus on workforce disruption and generative imagery blurring the line between real and fake, these discussions do little to help us deliver better projects. Using real, working examples from within the lighting industry, this paper sets out a clear framework for identifying genuine opportunities, planning meaningful use cases, and implementing AI in a way that improves accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making across design and delivery.

2.50pm - Closing Remarks
