The ILP Summit and the environment: what we are doing

May 28, 2019 | Events

The 2019 Professional Lighting Summit is taking place at a time when tackling climate change is high on the agenda for all of us. Many of our speakers will be talking about the challenges and potential solutions. Energy efficiency, alternative technologies and protecting our environment have never mattered more.

We want the event itself to be environmentally responsible wherever possible, and particularly encourage you to consider your travel arrangements. ILP staff will be travelling by train and if you are on a budget like us, we recommend seeing if www.tickety-split.com can save on your fare costs.

Another issue we have been looking at is the food included at the event. Researchers at the University of Oxford suggested last year that eating a vegan diet could be the ‘single biggest way’ to reduce your environmental impact. Therefore, we are offering all our attendees a vegan catering option. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t ‘really’ a vegan usually, you are welcome to opt in for the event. Look out for an email, being sent to all registered attendees.

The ILP seeks to be as inclusive as possible, so if you have any concerns about applying for membership / attending our Exterior Lighting Diploma courses, LDC local events or our one-day courses for whatever reason please let us know and we will try to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that you can fully engage with the ILP.
