Achieve CEng, IEng or EngTech status with the Engineering Council (EngC) by applying through the ILP.

The Engineering Council is the UK regulatory body for the engineering profession. It holds the national registers of 235,000 Engineering Technicians (EngTech), Information and Communications Technology Technicians (ICTTech), Incorporated Engineers (IEng) and Chartered Engineers (CEng).

The Institution of Lighting Professionals is a licensed awarding body. Simply apply to upgrade your existing ILP membership level and the assessment panel will advise you which level of EngC registration you are eligible for.

Featuring CEO Alasdair Coates, a Chartered Engineer for over 30 years, this video describes how valuable professional registration has been to him. Registration is open to any practising engineer or technician who can demonstrate the required competence – what matters is the standard you’ve reached, not the route you took to get there. Watch this video for more information about how you can benefit from professional registration.

More information can be found on the Engineering Council website.

It is essential that all lighting professionals can demonstrate continuing professionalism and competence.

The ILP’s programme of courses, seminars and events play a key role in helping lighting professionals maintain and update their existing skills, acquire new skills and progress their career.

In this way, members can achieve their full potential, reach personal objectives, strengthen professional credibility and accelerate career development.
