Latest update on local CPD from the Institution of Lighting Professionals
Why are the ILP Regions changing to Lighting Delivery Centres?
The simple answer is CPD – Continuing Professional Development.
The ILP exists to help share knowledge and expertise about light, so that we can make the world a better lit place. This benefits people and the environment.
As our planet faces more and more challenges, there is becoming an increased emphasis on CPD and sharing knowledge. We must all be prepared and involved.
During our Regional Review, our members told us that they want the Institution to have a more flexible and less traditional structure to meet their developing needs and so that we can adapt to change.
Our hardworking regional committees were spending a lot of their volunteer time dealing with administrative tasks, and many of our members were not aware of all the CPD opportunities on offer in other regions. The reorganisation of Regions into Lighting Delivery Centres will see more support from the central ILP office and a lot less of a burden on our volunteers. This allows local LDC teams to spend their valuable time focusing on the delivery of quality CPD.
How will it affect me?
No charge: CPD talks run by the LDC branches will be free for ILP members.
No boundaries: all ILP members are welcome to all ILP events, wherever their location.
No limits: attend as many events as you like. Your CPD attendance will be recorded on your MyCareerPath account.
Fees will apply for social activities, some refreshments, and non-member CPD tickets.
Do I need to do anything?
Right now, no. During June, we will get in touch to invite you to update your membership details on the ILP portal, to let us know which LDC events you would like to receive notifications about.
Can I get more involved with the ILP?
Always! We welcome volunteers. Please get in touch with Jess Gallacher, Engagement and Communications Manager – jess@theilp.org.uk.
