LED street lighting is a well adopted and mature product which has helped save millions of Kwh of electricity over the last decade. Now that the dust is beginning to settle on the mass adoption of millions of LED street lighting units its time to take stock and asses the impact of the rapid change on a grand scale.

How has LED lighting impacted our infrastructure, behaviours, and the wildlife we share it with throughout Europe. Now that LED technology has reached maturity, the leaps in LED efficacy gains have slowed, as manufactures try to squeeze every bit of performance from LED chips.

There are still great pressures on local authorities to further reduce energy budgets. With no replacement for LED technology on the horizon, what is next for street lighting?
