A course for street lighting engineers filled with information, practical advice and description of the issues with details of the options available.

YOU WILL TAKE AWAY AN UNDERSTANDING OF

You might not have had the opportunity for formal training on these subjects – we aim to make sure you have the practical knowledge and experience you need to add to your competency in four key areas:

Lighting and the law, risk management and lighting units

  • The laws relating to the provision and maintenance of lighting
  • Risk, risk assessments and risk management
  • The eye, how we see, rods and cones and the S/P ratio
  • Lighting units, what they mean and how they are used

Electrical supplies, unmetered energy and switch regimes

  • How is electricity generated, transmitted and distributed?
  • DNO’s, IDNO’s and ICP’s
  • Switch regimes, clocks, photocells and PECU arrays
  • Unmetered energy, how it is traded, ELEXON, BSCP and more

Equipment specification, lighting design and electrical design

  • What to look out for in equipment specification, photometry and LED testing
  • Identifying lighting user groups, their needs and lighting class selection
  • Electrical units, power and power factor
  • Basic electrical design issues and installations

Inventories, inspection and testing and lighting policy development

  • The importance of inventory and what information to keep
  • Examines inspection and testing issues and techniques
  • Light meters and light measurement checks
  • Building on the whole course to examine the decisions around policy development

ILP Non-member £495 plus VAT

Attendance can be in person at our training facilities in Rugby or you can access the training course online as a live interactive session.

If you choose to attend online you will be part of a live interactive session via a Teams call/screen sharing. This enables you to ask questions and interact with fellow students and the lecturer as you would if you attended in person but from the comfort of your own workspace.

You can pay by invoice/debit or credit card.
