How to be brilliant is back and starts off with a talk by Dr Euan Winton from Studio Winton.

The Institution of Lighting Professionals invites you to this free, fun, friendly evening talk. IN PERSON or ONLINE – your choice.

Euan’s talk will reveal how a co-design approach focused upon people and their lived experience can be a vehicle to unpack complex problems and situations – and create meaningful interventions and results. Using the Twelve Closes project as an example, Euan will explain how and Malcolm Innes provided local residents and businesses the opportunity to inform and shape the design process. Core to co-design is the empowerment of collaborators to impact their situation.

In a rich design career Euan has produced many visitor events and interactions including the first Lighting Trail at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, light trails across Scotland and Ireland, and a PhD in design with people living with dementia, where he developed long-term co-design projects. Twelve Closes takes the experience of placemaking through light and art to redefine urban environments and to create beautiful destinations.

All welcome at this session to learn from Euan’s expertise, reflect on your own practice, and be inspired by his results.

This talk will be something that helps newcomers to the lighting industry, welcomes students, interns, and apprentices, and will also be fascinating for anyone who has been in the lighting profession for a while.
